In a remarkable convergence of talent, passion and academic backgrounds, seven ½ðɳÓéÀÖ alumni  were among the scores of people who helped make the acclaimed stop-motion film in Portland. The film took about three years to create and was released Dec. 9. It won the Academy Award for best animated film. 

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University and the Forest Grove Police Department are challenging bias, race and policing. In October 2022, the university hosted a private training involving scenarios about the houseless, immigrants, and a mental health crisis.

Professor Amy Coplen, the director of ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University’s School of Dental Hygiene Studies, was named the University of Michigan’s 2022 Dental Hygiene Alumna of the Year Award .

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University was named one of the West’s most supportive schools for military veterans by MilitarySupportiveColleges.com. It is one of three private institutions in Oregon that was highlighted for its full commitment to the Yellow Ribbon tuition program.

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University was noted for its efforts to promote voting among its students, earning recognition as one of America’s 2022 Most Engaged Campuses by Civic Nation, a nonprofit group.

Rosalie Goode ’15 became a dental hygienist through ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University’s School of Dental Hygiene. Now, thanks to a statewide pilot program at ½ðɳÓéÀÖ, she has become the first licensed member of a new cohort of mid-level dental provider in Oregon. 

MFA faculty poet Shara McCallum's sixth book, No Ruined Stone, has won the 2022 Hurston/Wright Foundation Legacy Award. The Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation’s Annual Legacy Awards Ceremony honors the best in Black literature in the United States and around the globe.

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University Alumnus Carl Boeck '75 enlisted after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and went on to deliver the gift of sight to people in places around the world where the military was conducting civil affairs work.

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University's AMIGOS Eye Care and partner Enfoque Ixcán embarked on its first international eye care mission trip in August, since the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Representatives from the two organizations met on Oct. 11 to celebrate their partnership over the university’s new Master of Nonprofit Leadership Program, which launches in January.
