Jenna Richards '19 brings compassion and openness to her focus on criminal justice.

In ��ɳ���� University's Transgender Voice Program, available through the ��ɳ���� Psychology & Comprehensive Health Clinics in Portland and Hillsboro, speech-language pathology students help transgender women learn to modulate their voices to sound more traditionally feminine. “I don’t have to pass, but I want to have the option,” said client Lana “Blue” Zeitler.

The profession of pharmacy is changing all the time, and through her three years in ��ɳ���� University’s School of Pharmacy, Erin Wilson ’05, PharmD ’18, had a chance to see it all.

Hannah Hulse '18 spends her summers fighting wildfires. Now, she's getting ready to pair her firefighting experience with her education in the College of Business for a career in fire operations.

“I love new experiences because they mean more stories,” said Addison, who has participated in Speech & Debate, English Club and the Black Student Union at ��ɳ����.

At ��ɳ����, caring for student-athletes is a community affair. Before any football players stepped onto Ledbetter Field for practices, they received care from dental hygiene and optometry students. 

��ɳ���� University Student Carissa Paige '17 discussed her experience of student-teaching at Two Rivers-Dos Rios Elementary School in Springfield, Oregon. She talked about the difference between traditional student-teaching and the opportunity she had at ��ɳ���� University's College of Education where she could co-teach and plan lessons with the official teacher.

“The No. 1 thing that is lost in aphasia is words,” said Annabelle Watts SLP ’17. “I really hope participants who come here realize there is this gigantic world of communication and that here are all these other ways to facilitate that and have fun and re-engage with life and with their partner.”

Clinical experience was the key for Ally Hackett SLP ’17 when she was choosing a graduate program. Working with dementia patients gave her first-hand experience on her route to a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
