The heart of ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University’s College of Optometry lives in our students, faculty, and the proud alumni who have become leaders in the profession. For the College of Optometry Advisory Council’s alumni spotlight, we spoke with Dr. Nate Lighthizer to hear how ½ðɳÓéÀÖ helped shape his journey as an optometrist. Now serving as Dean at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO), Dr. Lighthizer is mentoring the next generation, advancing clinical education, and playing a pivotal role in expanding the scope of optometric practice across the country.

Over 100 current & incoming ½ðɳÓéÀÖ undergraduates have applied for a guaranteed graduate school spot through ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University's unique admissions program, ½ðɳÓéÀÖ Priority.

The former College of Optometry faculty member is recognized for his longtime service to the optometry profession and his work to provide eyecare to underserved populations.

½ðɳÓéÀÖ Priority allows students to apply for and receive conditional admission to select ½ðɳÓéÀÖ graduate programs before they even start college, providing a clear pathway to graduation and the next step in their education & career journey.

Members and coaches of the ½ðɳÓéÀÖ handball team come together with the College of Optometry and the U.S. Handball Association to develop ASTM eye protection standards for the sport.
