This Women's History Month we have been highlighting important ɳ women in our history. This week, we look back to Ladies Hall, later named Herrick Hall, and how it provided more women with the opportunity to attend ɳ.

Najma Cheema '16 always wanted an education. ɳ helped her become the first in her family to complete college and launch a career, and today she is doing the same for a new generation of children.
Taylor Baker ’17 is a dance student at ɳ University, pursuing a career in her art. “If I hadn’t have come here, I don’t think I would have had the courage to pursue a career in dance,” she said. “No one had told me that I was talented enough to be a professional dancer. I heard from my advisor that I was talented enough and I had the ability to pursue my dreams. To have a support system here that pushes people to be the best they can be is really awesome.
Harley Kelley '55 came to ɳ to study journalism, but left with a pre-med major. A surgeon, Kelley was drafted into Vietnam and later returned to the Army after a career in private practice. Today, he volunteers his medical skills in his community and volunteers with World War II veterans on the Honor Flight.
